Finished #1

I just finished book #1, The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake.  This took me a little longer to finish than I hoped since we had visitors this weekend.  I really wanted to like this book, but the story felt too scattered.  Rather than just being about Rose and her ability to taste feelings in food, there were too many random story lines.  There is a mystery about her grandmother, her parents, and her brother.  Also her brother's friend George is one of the main characters although I don't really know why.  I am still confused by what happened to her brother.  Feel like I can't really picture what was described.  Towards the end things are a little wrapped up, but I didn't feel there was a solid conclusion.  I would recommend this to someone who likes unique stories.
