I am starting 'Darkly Dreaming Dexter' by Jeff Lindsay tonight. This is the story of a blood splatter expert who is a serial killer of "bad people". He starts to worry when a string of brutal murders using his style shows up.
Lindsey is the only person I know who has read this book and she seemed to like it. Everyone has been talking about the tv show lately and it is one that I would really like to watch from the beginning if I get time. I thought I would give the first book a shot before I start watching the series.

Just wanted to say, that while I liked the book, I definitely prefer the series.
ReplyDeleteI finished the first Dexter book today. I don't really know what I thought besides that it was an okay read. I thought it would be a little more interesting than it was, because the story line sounds very intriguing. There were some parts that I found really suspenseful and had to cover the last page or my eyes would wander to the one last shocking sentence of each paragraph. But overall I found most of the writing kind of cheesy. I guess too many cliches, kind of like why I don't like watching CSI or NCIS. I think I will try the tv series before I read the next book, because right now I don't feel like I'm in any rush to pick up the next one.
