My 15th book is going to be 'Who Will Run the Frog Hospital?' by Lorrie Moore. I have to say that I know nothing about this book, but I saw it on someone else's book list and thought it had an interesting title. I looked up a description and it is a story of a woman who realizes she is no longer in love with her husband and reflects upon a friendship she had in New York when she was 15.
I read a few short stories by Moore in college, so I am interested to see what one of her novels is like.

I just finished book 15. There were a lot of interesting stories that the main character Berie shared about her childhood. I really liked learing about the friendship between Berie and Sils. I think that if the book was just about Berie's childhood, I would have really liked it.
ReplyDeleteI didn't care for any of the story about Berie and David. I just think it really didn't fit in the book and could have been a seperate story. I would rather have had more about Sils.
I don't know why this comment isn't showing. I tried deleting it and reposting, but still didn't show.
ReplyDeleteThat's funny b/c I saw you posted a new book, so clicked on comments to ask you why you didn't comment on it and then I saw one was already here, but not showing up. Weird. Sounds like this wasn't one of your favorites, so I shouldn't worry about moving it to the top of my list to read.
ReplyDeleteNot a favorite, but one to read when you need a new suggestion. It was a quick read, only 150 pages. And it gave some brief info on France which may fit into your latest category of reads. It was good, I just think it could have been two different short stories. I know I shouldn't base my opinion of Moore on this one book, but I think some authors are just better at short stories than novels.
