Book #45: Everything is Illuminated

The next book I am starting is 'Everything is Illuminated' by Jonathan Safranfoer. In this story a young man ventures out to find the woman who might or might not have saved his grandfather from the Nazis. Jonathan travels with an old haunted by war, a dog, and a young Ukrainian translator. Throughout the journey he tries to imagine the history behind his grandfathers life. This book is supposed to be a mix of comedy and tragedy as history unfolds.

  1. I finished this book and thought it was brilliant. It was sickening, sad, and funny all in one. Even though so much of the story was sad, I actually laughed out loud several times while reading it. The conversations between Jonathan and Alex the translator were hilarious. I really liked the format of the book too with the 2 different stories and letters of correspondence. I was a little confused by it at first, but it made sense later. The only thing I wish is that more of the story would have been answered, but nothing can ever be perfect.
