Book 26: Rooftops of Tehran

Book #26 for me will be 'Rooftops of Tehran' by Mahbod Seraji. This will be my first book in the Asian Literature quarterly theme. This is the story of a teenager named Pasha who is in love with his neighbor, who is "engaged" to another man. After reading some other books about Persian culture I think it will be interesting to read something told through the viewpoint of a teenager.

  1. I just finished this book. I thought the story really showed how important love and friendship is in everyone's life. I really liked the beginning of this book with the flashes between Pasha's summer with Zari and his time in the mental hospital. I liked the sense of mystery that this gave me as a reader when trying to pull the story together. Although the end of the story had lots of symbolism with love, stars, politics, etc., I really didn't like it as much as I liked the beginning. For me I feel like the ending just was a little weak and predictable.
