Finished #19

I finished A Prayer for Owen Meany this morning. This book was both wonderful and sad. It has restored my love for John Irving. It's a book based on friendship, family, and faith. It took me a long time to finish the last 50 pages, because I kept crying through the paragraphs. Owen Meany makes me want to be a better person.
The book was nothing like the movie Simon Birch. In the movie, the begining was the same, but Owen ended up becoming a hero at the age of about 12. I'm glad that the story and Owen's life was longer than that in the book.

A Prayer for Owen Meany

I just started A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving. I love most of Irving's novels, but have never read this one. It's about a little boy (Owen) who is really tiny and always picked on by other kids. He has a great spirit that keeps him from telling on all the other kids. So far it seems as if the narrator is telling the story of his friendship with Owen and how Owen becomes a hero.
I saw the movie Simon Birch a few years ago. It is supposed to be based off of the Prayer for Owen Meany novel. I really only remember the beginning and end of the movie, so even if those are the same as the book, the middle will be a surprise. And I do remember that the movie was incredibly sad.

I am so far behind. I might have to go back to Little House on the Prairie or cheesy vampire books to catch up.....

Finished #18

I finished the Pawnee book. Some of it was really funny, especially the foot notes. I really do love Parks and Recreation, so it was fun to hear Ron and Leslie and the others talk about the town. A few parts were really boring, but it would be a good book to lay out on the coffee table for guests to look through.
